TALENTED PEOPLE WE FORGET

When I was growing up, we had this really cool musician on my street (I'll call him Zack). He could play eight (8) instruments and for a time as a little kid he taught me guitar (don't get too excited, I'm only now returning to it). But this guy was a Genius. One of three adopted kiddos, he was primarily a bass player in area rock bands. I'd attend their rehearsals in basements and he eventually grew a beard, wore rimmed glasses and drove a VW bus. Of course, I must add here that he came home to bring his laundry on weekends and always with a striking different girlfriend. We kids drooled over the groupie chicks. I'm not exaggerating when I say he was a Genius. He could apply his high powered intellect to algorithms as he did to arpeggios on the guitar fret board. His apartment was a bit depressing with sound and mixing equipment combined with worn out furnishings in dank back building environments. I was the youngest person in my neighborhood ever to move away from home and never return. I was 19. So, I lost contact. I was so certain he'd eclipse Cat Stevens or James Taylor in popular music. The very last hint of information I heard about him was that he married a beautiful woman--a skater from "The Ice Capades". He was good at sports, quick with a sure-fired wit and evidently had some magnet to attract all those young girls we drooled over as neighborhood kids mesmerized sitting on our bicycles.
Have you lost touch with someone you've often wondered about in terms of what they did with their lives?

Yeah, I've lost track of plenty. I keep thinking they're gonna find me by googling. I can't seem to find them. That's what that last lyric was all about, really

I've lost track of many over the past ummmm 40 years... from childhood friends to adult friends. Some I'd rather not meet again, but just wanting to know how their lives turned out. My first girlfriend is another one... I know the state and I know her name, but that's all and using that info has turned up nothing... but I know she is alive.

oh yes, so many - and when I attended my first ever HS reunion-the 30th (i'mOLLLDD) I hoped to see some of those I remembered, but they weren't there, there were a couple I was curious about who did attend,
but....some I really wondered over I'll never know what happened to them.

Or to the guy who helped me out of the bar and saved my life...I believe that.

Or, the guy who played guitar on the street in the next neighborhood, and I had a big crush on him...

the artist, the musician, the fellow drunk sad person

and there are more -- yes,

Bud: This guy bore such a resemblance to John Lennon after he grew the beard and wore the glasses that the neighhborhood girls were ready to run away with him!

Denny: Your curiosity will lead you to a paid search--my prediction!

Kat: Interesting! Glad you were saved from that bar!!

Dante: Reminded me of that "hum" of those slot machines in Las Vegas!

Well, I think we posted at almost the same time at Michele's so I posted at the other site and then realized you got in there before me, so here I am saying hello. Yes, don't ask my why but his name was Patrick Moulding and another named Tony Gooch, a gal Lori Carlson who was a real dish as well as Marian Dillard, etc etc. Have a great weekend!
