Yellowrose: lol! and THANK YOU for checking in. I keep the NEWS and COMING SOON sections updated and we are adding many new photos to the PHOTO GALLERY at www.michaelmanning.tv
I wonder what would have become of Dean had he lived. Would he have ended up fat and bloated like Brando? Would he have gone on to make many more great movies or ride the waves of has beens?
That's the thing about dying young. All the unfulfilled potential remains unfulfilled forever. For those who lose it and keep living the outcome is quite different.
Janet: Well said! No, we'll never know. Part of what complicates this natural "art of wondering" (as Philosophers call it) was that Dean had so many unresolved identity issues that arose from such a turbulent upbringing. We saw this in Steve McQueen. The absence of parents to be supportive and confirm a solid base of identity with love and acceptance ate at both actors and produced enormous suffering. It is a testament to both that in spite of this, they were fine actors, devoted to their craft. This was quite a tragedy that Dean died so young. At least in Steve's case, the turbulence and excesses that fueled it all came to a resolution after he met and married his third wife who sincerely did NOT know Steve was a celebrity. She fell in ove with the person and not the image. With the help of his pilot instructor and Barbara minty, his wife, Steve realized what had become of his life and felt he had hurt an enormous number of people. So, he set about the task of rebuilding his life anew when Mesothelioma simply overtook those efforts at age 50--young--and killed him. I find it haunting to hear the 2nd DVD thgat comes with the "Bullitt" movie ($26.00) where he says, "I just want to live again". lol!
Being from Indiana, his home state, we are all about James Dean here. Fairmount is his hometown and has a festival every year and that is where he is buried.
Hi there! Just dropping by to check up on how things are going. I loved all his movies. It's too bad he died so young. He was great! I love the movie Giant with Rock Hudson and the infamous Elizabeth Taylor.
Hopr everything is good with you and wish you the best. Take care and a great big (((HUG))) and much aloha.
Meow! So good to hear from you. I have THE INTERVIEW coming up and of course a movie tomorrow at Midnight to post! lol!
Teresa: What a great State! I actually pulled off the road to snap a photo of the sign that reads "FRANK BORMAN EXPRESSWAY". Colonel Borman hails from Gary! So do The Jackson 5 (in better days, eh?). lol Teresa. I'll stop by.
Ma: Speaking of "Aloha" I am awaiting the DVD version of the rehearsal and the extended TV concert version in the mail! Thanks for your love and concern.
What a wasted life! How wonderful it would be though to be remembered and loved by so many. What a legend.... Just like you will be Michael. xox Nicole. "little miss"
littlejen: Welcome! Such a tragedy. I think we all come into this world wanting to be loved and to those who are never sure, suffering follows. lol!
Nicole: That's an interesting thought. I do hope I bring a smile. That's the one comment in every one of our family's sympathy letters about my Dad. His ever-oresent smile put so many in a good mood! lol!! And what a nice comment. I appreciate your thoughtfulness!!!
Suzanne: lol! I'm the wrong person to ask since I like women. In fact, I'm waiting for Ashton Kutcher to mess up and for some great pal to introduce me to Demi Moore! One can dream, right? And oh, do I have a treasure trove of those dreams!!! :)
Be still my heart - - he was the most beautiful man to ever make a movie, I swear!! That scene in Giant where Elizabeth Taylor is sitting at his table on the porch and he leans against the post and looks at her with those eyes - - I melt everytime! *sigh*

Just doing a little catching up here.
Citizen Kane, American Pie, James Dean, yes yes yes, all favourites of mine.
James Dean was cool.
And I think misunderstood in his time because I think he is a better actor than some give him credit for.
I hope you are doing well Michael.
Glenn Bishop
He was one fine looking man! Just catching up with you! Hope you are doing well!
D-Man: And Rick Nelson! Thanks!!!
Glenn: Yes, a very conflicted man to be certain!

It's such a shame we lost such cool people at such a young age. ... only 24, how sad.
Thanks for sharing the memories.
Take care, Meow
