CONCERT FOR SAHARA ALDRIDGE (IMPORTANT UPDATE)!
___
This BLOG post is going to be updated as the December 8th Benefit Concert for Sahara Aldridge nears. This morning I have decided to make an attempt from Cincinnati to put together a bus load of local people to attend this show. Each day to me is a fresh canvas--so to speak--upon which we create our opportunities. So, with this in mind, what I have decided to "attempt" is to pull together some Media Contacts and see if there is a way to win over hearts and minds to rapidly secure at least one Chartered Bus load of 43 people--Bloggers or non--to attend Sahara's benefit show in Missouri. This is a positive way to show our support to Sahara, and her Family to help make this very worthwhile initiative "Rock"--and for us all to have fun at the same time! SO...If any of you are in the area feel motivated to make a run at this with me, please e-mail me with your expression of serious interest. Include your name, e-mail address and telephone number (include the area code). This will allow me to meet with various officials to crunch some numbers quickly to see what we can accomplish together. I will continue to keep you apprised of my progress without over-promising. My ability to deliver here is incumbent on the response that I receive from the "Tri-State" area (Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky) The City of Cincinnati, the Mayor's Office, local Media outlets and a bus company I have in mind. Let's see what we can do together! My Contact is: michaelmanninginfo@GMail.com.

I learned about Sahara from watching CNN Headline News. They reported on Rick Springfield's benefit concert for her. Sahara is battling Cancer--a stage 4 malignant glioblastoma in her brainstem. She is being treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. The show is scheduled for December 8, 2006 at 7:30 PM at the Show Me Center, S.E. Missouri State University, 1333 N. Sprigg Street, Cape Giradeau. MO. 63701-6999. The Official Hotel for the Rick Springfield Benefit Concert for Sahara Aldridge is the DRURY LODGE in Cape Giradeau. All rooms include full breakfast buffet each morning. The discounted rate is $69.00 plus tax. To receive this rate, call the hotel directly at (573) 334-7151 and identify the Pass Code of: SHOWME. Additional information about the hotel and services offered can be obtained from their website at www.druryhotels.com. ___
The Show Me Center is donating the facility, rental fees and staff time. All net ticket revenue after staffing, production and transportation costs will be donated to "Help For Hoops" to help defray Sahara's medical expenses. Tickets are on sale at: Show Me Center (http://www.showmecenter.biz/) and Ticketmaster Outlets (http://www.ticketmaster.com/). Ticket prices are $35 & $25 and you may Charge-By-Phone at (573) 651-5000.To get caught up on the very latest, visit Sahara's site at: http://saharaaldridge.blogspot.com .

That is so cool! And thanks again Michael for turning me onto his new CD. You're the best! ;)
And hey, I got to be first (and second, lol!)
BTW, if I ever have to adopt Daisy out, I will definately call you! I would trust you completely with her life :)
blessings and prayers for Sahara and her treatment and for the concert---it sounds wonderful.
Great name for a great kid. She must have developed strong wisdom and courage for her few years. Hope all goes well for her. I have a friend who had this opp in his teen years and is now in his 30s.
what a beautiful young woman, sending all the love I can muster her way for a clean bill of health and a long happy life
xx

What a great thing that concert. Thanks for visiting my blog. I'll be sure to visit here too!
what a wonderful event..rick springfield, is doin good work there.
Catrolyn: I'm happy you liked it. "Wasted" is so cool because the acoustic intro reminded me of myself as a 13 year-old. Then you hear Rick getting up and alking to place the acoustic guitar on the stand and the full band cranks up and it's like "YEAH! Let's Go!!" I just ordered his new DVD of a recent live show! lol!! Oh...BTW: Ginger is just as cute. I'll make room for two pooches!!! :)
Sage: You have a lot of heart! This little girl, as Rick says, belongs in this world and like you I too want to see her kick Cancer in the ass! Let's keep up with her site!!! She needs our positive vibes and for those who pray...prayers!
Hawkeye: First of all welcome and thanks ever so much for your visit. I hope Sahara's Mom see's your comment. This is very empowering and encouraging news about your friend!
Shona: lol! You're thought are so heartfelt and I share them with you completely.
Leish: Back atcha! I'd like to start a rally for this sweet little girl! Supportiveness with this type of cruel situation is key!!! lol!!!!
Bossy: He's definitely a workaholic who has earned his success and tours relentlessly. I admire him. And with a good heart. That's my kind of musician. And his new material is terrific.
Reading this post made me feel better about my world around me today. I think it is great when celebrities do things like this because they WANT to do it not because it makes them look good.
Rick rocks not only musically but as a person too :)
Barngoddess: I have been meaning to stop by and I will now. I sincerely hope that every Blogger who has stoppped by here will go over to Sahara's site and leave a post "because the WANT to do it not because it makes them sound good". I've admired Rick's career much like Rick Nelson's--actor and musician. See you soon!
Hey Michael!
I was away for a week...seeing Rick perform at the Windsor Casino, and then I flew down to LA for some R&R...well, that is until I volunteered to help out at Rick's Merch. warehouse! LOL
I still am not sure if I can make it to the Cape concert, but if I do, I will be sure to give you a heads up!!
Rick is as genuine as it gets when it comes to his heart and his sincerity. I love him for that...and his music too!
xoxo

Forgot to mention... I am pretty sure you have your #50 (things about you) covered here. The traffic that your blog receives will no doubt raise awareness as to what Sahara is going through and the kind of support she and her family need, both intrinsic and extrinsic.
Kathleen: That must have been a blast! Sounds like you're part of the "Street Team" now!! Thanks for the sweet message. My CPA is also a Pastor who is writing a book on the subject of "Supportiveness". Anyone can do it if they really want to. I simply hope my small blurb here helps bring some supportiveness to this precious little girl even if justone person gets involved. lol!!!!!:)
Sahara is an amazing, inspirational young lady.
Hope you have a wonderful week.
Take care, Meow
MEOW! It is always fun to hear from you and see this dancing Cat! It always lightens my day and makes me feel great and I'm sure I speak for many others. Always a pleasure. See you soon! And you have a wonderful week as well!!
Empathy; there's tremendous shortage of that in the world today. Kudos to posts like yours that nudge some of us out of our apathy.
id it is: Thanks for the warm vibes! That's a very good point! :)
Good for him and for her. I hope it raises a lot of money.
I always wanted to be Jesse's girl!
thanks for stopping into my blog and linking me, i'm honored!
I'm so glad you posted about her.
I'm glad you're still around.
What a sweet and courageous girl she seems, I hope she will get better soon.
Thanks for visiting my blog!
Michael, thanks for the continuing updates on Sahara. I will place her blogsite as a link on mine to assist in the promotion of her endeavor. Have a happy halloween!
Enid
Todays post on Sahara's blog is very positive and very touching! :)
I encourage you to stop by and read it!
Thanks for visiting my blog! And thanks for the link! Although, I can't imagine why you'd link a plain-jane stay-at-home-mom like myself, but thanks anyway! Hee hee!
Happy Halloween Michael! I hope you get lots of good candy ;-)
Happy Halloween Michael!
I think that Rick Springfield concert sounds great and what a fantastic cause aswell. If I lived the right side of the Atlantic I'd definitely consider getting tickets. I hope it goes well!
Hey Happy Halloween there Michael! And don't eat all the chocolate either!
Teresa: A smart guy who worked the Pop angle and is today at 56 a serious Legend who just released a DVD "Live at Rockford". Very rare to find such an enduring talent who is making CD's and touring like crazy. lol!
Suziebadoozie: Me too! Welcome!!!:)
Faithinflorida: Spread the good word! She needs a chance!! lol!!!
D-man: Oh, yes. Just on a restricted schedule until I get some wings. But still posting about Movies and occasionally Interviews. Hello to D-Girl!
Erica: And thanks for stopping by here. It means a lot to me!
Enid: You got it: That is really part of my intention. Bless you!
KM: You can count on it. lol!
Leslie: You Rock and I love to introduce new and interesting people who bring to each of us an entirely new, fresh perspective. Especially since I'm blogging on a restricted basis. I look forward to coming back full time as my circumstances allow.
Lisa B: My Best to you too! I have a feeling your city has plentyt of parties compared to mine. I did get a HUGE hug from a friend of mine today and she dressed as an EMT! :)
Claire: He tours constantly worldwide. I am sure you'll see him. I will try and see if I can make the december 8th concert. lol!
This news delighted me to no end. What a great man Mr. Springfield is. I saw him in concert at the Minnesota State Fair back when he was hot the FIRST time (waaaaay back then...). It was my first concert. :) And he was awesome. *sigh*
I am so happy to hear all of the wonderful news about Sahara's health and this concert. Great news.
Hey Michael, I had a visit at Sahara's blog and said hello. Boy, what a precious brave young lady. I left well wishes and have put her on my prayer list. I guess it really puts things into perspective when I think things are not going well, then I read about Sahara and feel a little selfish. What a wonderful site......Rick's wasn't bad either..lol... Have a great week.
Sahara sounds so interesting and talented, can't wait to read your links about her!
PBS: Better yet, why not trot over to Sahara's site. Her Mom and twin sister post a lot too and they are a better source in Real Time news than me. Also, I have Rick Springfield's site because he has posted photos of himself with Sahara. This is all positive energy sent out to this sweet girl and I think we can all make a difference. lol!
Renae: lol! Yeah, you're right. It's easy to take so much for granted. Like everyone else, I too am pulling with thoughts prayers, shout-outs! and more for this brave girl. She's precious! She MUST beat this challenge!!!
Keri: I just received in the mail Ricks' latest DVD "Live in Rockford" recorded last month I believe. He's more progressive rock now and his shows pack a wallop. I was thrilled to read he and his wife just took to this little girl years ago and he is but one example (as you are too) about the difference one person can make. Whether it's running a relay in the name of a Cancer patient as you do, or Rick and his band rocking a town for Sahara. I hope our collective spirit will help Sahara WIN! lol, Keri!!
Hey Denny Shane! I almost missed you there!! Thanks and hope Elvira stopped by your pad for a naughty Halloween treat!!!!lol!!!:)
Michael: Thanks for the information on Sahara. This is pretty much in my back yard (the bigger town where we pretty much do everything) so I will have to check into the tickets. My 14 y/o daughter's friend and classmate just lost his battle with cancer Friday. It's such a tragic and heartbreaking disease. We MUST find a cure! Prayerfully Sahara will get well!
Dottie: This is just devastating to read. My heart goes out to you, your little daughter, and her friend and family. We've had two losses and two victories in my family and I believe you grasp why this concert and this little girl is so important for Bloggers with Hearts to rally around Sahara. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this sad time. Believe me.
I've always loved Rick - thanks for the info!
preppyprincess: Then you'll love his high-energy concert. Rick and his band are tight and kick serious Rock and Roll ass. I have seen him twice: at an outdoor Amphitheater in Ohio and at a casino setting in Indiana. Not to be missed. The man is singing and playing better than ever after 30+ years. Thanks for writing!!!! and lol!!!!!!
Michael, after your recent visit to my blog, I came over to check you out, and WOW! You are one busy man! How do you find time to blog? Do you breathe??
I'm sending my best to young Sahara. I hoping for the best outcome for her.
Now, keep running, or you'll lose yourself in all this activity!!
lynilu: Thanks you so much for coming by. I hope you (and ALL BLOGGERS here) will stop by Sahara Aldridges' site and leave her a message right away. lol!
Trult a worthwhile cause Michael and I wish you success at all levels.
Denny: Thank You! Many times it's best to marshall local resources together. I have been in touch with the local paper and will move aggressively ahead on Monday! lol!!
I am so excited on so many levels about all of this, Michael! I really wish that I could join the bus! I would LOVE to be a part of this. HOW ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. I was out at Rick's site, too. What a guy. (And he looks pretty dang terrific, too. NO FAIR...) heading out to Sahara's site next. As soon as I've finished working on the novel for tonight, I'll try and do some blogging about the event, too. WONDERFUL! :)
YOU rock, Michael. Smooches my friend!
Hey Michael,
I just stumbled upon your blog and think it’s great that you’re spreading the word about Sahara. She is my inspiration and I’ll be flying in from New York for the benefit concert. I know it’s going to be an amazing night. Oh, and I promise you’re going to LOVE Rick’s new DVD! It’s almost just like being there - minus the sweat =) Good luck with the bus!
Wow, I saw Michael post on occasion at Sahara's blog place on earth, but now to read some of his posts themselves--I am blown away!
Hope to maybe meet you--and see many others--at the Cape concert. I have had the privilege of meeting both Sahara and Amy many years ago at EFX, and they are truly wonderful and genuine people. We as an active RS community do whatever we can whenever we can to help out!
Hi and thanks!
Ally
Keri: I ordered my concert ticket for the Second Row last night.I am very confident about the prospects of a bus. The company I have in mind is the best. I can't reveal the name right now, but their former Chairman was a man whom I interviewed when he was in the airline business; I knew his daughter who was in PR. Their participation, while never a guarantee, at this moment, would be the major deal-maker and a WIN-WIN. Thanks for your loyalty and supportive comments kiddo!
Kelly: I have the DVD and I'm off to the CCS (College Conservatory of Music at my Alma Mater all day today to see it and do some work). Look forward to meeting you at the event! Just shoot me an e-mail. We'll "make it happen". Thanks for the good vibes sent my way on the bus. I really hope the Media gives this story a shot. To borrow a Steve McQueen quote: "Time starts now".
Ally: Let's meet, sure! I too have been a RS fan. Hell of a show! Obviously, Rick and his wife Barbara have tremendous compassion and this is truly a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to make something positive happen that is bigger than any of us! Shoot me an e-mail and we'll meet up at the Center.
Good luck, Michael! I hope you get the help you need to get that bus and the people from Ohio to go to Sahara's fund raising event. You are always there for people who need help. God bless you my dear friend. Take care and big (((HUGS)))
Much Aloha to you.
What a great event! Good luck on organizing the trip! You are doing a good thing...but then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from you! ;)
I hope they raise lots of money for her.She is so young to have to go through all this.Good for you too for being so compassionate and caring and trying to help her.
Ma: Thanks for your supportiveness, which is heartfelt and consistent. I appreciate it more than you realize. This is a VERY sensible and realistic goal for us to reach on a local level and my Faith in the People of Cincinnati is unshakable. You may be sure that I'll update this BLOG as events warrant. lol and (((HUGS))) Ma!
Yellowrose: Thank you so much! This is as I told Ma above here absolutely realistic and achievable. People will vote with their feet. I reviewed the DVD late last night of the Rick Springfield tour and the show is simply phenomenal. The idea here is driven by the fact that we have so much bad news permeating our lives from the Radio and TV. Why not put a good faith effort forward with a team of people like myself and "MAKE IT HAPPEN". God-Willing, I hope we can wrap this up between this week and next. lol!
Hellbunny: lol! Too bad I don't have the celebrity or clout to do more. I'm merely a "Pied Piper" attempting to accomplish something positive on a local level that might inspire others to do the same. The beauty of this is that anyone can understand this; it's not complicated. Poeple only need to look to their hearts and take action. To quote Ringo Starr, I'll need "a little help from my friends"! And I have the Faith it will materialize. Stay tuned!!
Michael, sounds like the plan is on! Too bad Utah is so far away from Cincinnati to take that bus as that would be quite the ride!
I will shoot you an email soon as I get this election over with (my boss is up for re-election, and it's a local County office, but my job depends on it. Looks good, though, as he is only name on the ballot. Still...we wanna know for sure, and we will come Wednesday. I have that faith though...)
I have not yet watched Rockford, but I was there. And it was a wonderful time! Rick's shows always are, and I know--I go to lots of them as well as other artists. One big intimate party, it seems like. :-)
Take care,
Ally
Ally: WOW! You were there!! That is just so AWESOME! Cincinnati contacts here are proving to be very receptive from my meeting in
the Mayor's Office to my Alma Mater Campus Newspaper and Radio station and a few more outlets I can't mention yet. But if they pick up the ball and run with it, we're going to Rock Out and have a BLAST. The bus will be called "Sahara's Express" (for her Victory!) I feel the more people we can get on board, the more positive energy will begin flowing to help Sahara heal. She CAN and MUST beat this Cancer! "Red House"! Jimi and Stevie Ray HAD to be "high-fiving" each other in Heaven on that solo! lol, Ally!!!
Ally: Just wanted you to know that I tried to access your site and the library computer flipped to someone elses page. So, I couldn't stop by for a visit. But thank you so much for your supportive words about my initiatives here in Ohio. lol! It means a great deal!!
thanks for dropping by and for the link. when i make time to figure out how to post links, you will be the first. best wishes on that very worthwhile endeavor.
What a wonderful thing you are doing. Hope it all goes magnificently.
Thinking of you all.
Take care, Meow
msugal86: You've got a deal! Welcome and thank you for those nice words of encouragement!
Meow! Always cool to hear from you. New post is up and time for shut-eye on this end! THank you for your good wishes. You can be assured I will give it my all!
Uh oh, I am blog computer illiterate! LOL. But if you mean my blog page, it does work. I just don't have anything much to say on my own; just others. :-)
And the web page was down, but seems to be up now. It's not my very own, but one I run, though, so that is maybe what you received. That is mine, though, so I put that on my blog. LOL.
Ally
Ally: Got it. lol to you for today!
Michael, I'm sorry to hear that your family suffered losses to cancer. It is such a horrible disease...
I missed in your post/comments that you were bringing a bus to Cape Girardeau. How amazing is that! I'm headed there tomorrow for a soccer tournament and intend to check into tickets. We may just see you there! :)
Dottie: I'll look forward to that! And while you're at it, why not say "Hello" to Sahara at her Blogsite off to the right hand column here? She's enjoy a positive message from a nice person like you! lol! And spread the Cheer!!
