THE FESTIVAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!

An Actor, Producer, Director: Steve McQueen!
_____

I am pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Steve McQueen Film Festival beginning in March commemorating Steve's birthday month here on my BLOG! This year, we have expanded the offerings and the films with a radically overhauled festival tribute. More than 40 of your E-mails in 2006 convinced me to make it an Annual Event that is sure to please. The "King of Cool" returns here soon! This is my tribute to one of the greatest actors who ever lived. We will launch an Introduction on February 28th, commence the launch of The Festival on March 1st and conclude in a very big way on April 7th!

I remain in Nevada this week, but send each of you my very best for a great week. "Friday Movie Suggestion Night" later this week will deliver a phenomenal concert film you won't want to miss! Stick around!
My Best!

Hey Michael

I remember the Steve McQueen movies which used to be shown in Belize when we had actual theaters scattered around the city. He was indeed cool.

This is crazy but I don't think I have ever saw a single Steve McQueen movie.... ever! Have fun in NV!

BTW isn't that where the Mustang Ranch is with legal prostitutes?

I think my favorite Steve McQueen movies are the Great Escape and the Magnificent 7.

And there was one when he played a bounty hunter and oh yeah Bullet.

I hope you have a nice time in Las Vegas Michael.

Enid: With all of our individual busy lives and responsibilities I sometimes wonder myself how each of us pulls even just a Blog together on a semi-regular basis! The quality of Steve's films eclipse any star I know of on the Hollywood scene today. He came from the "school of hard knocks" and I truly respect all he overcame. lol!!

Patti-Cake: The prostitution thing you just have to laugh at. Rita Rudner said she was walking down a sidewalk and some Chinese guy hands her what looks like a baseball card with two naked girls. He said: "You want to have good time with them?" Rita: "Not unless they want to go shopping with me! They look like they need some clothes!!" On Steve: Suggest If you have Netflix, "Bullitt" the DVD carries a second DVD that has 1 hour with Steve's first and last wives Neille and Barbara, his son Chad, Robert Culp, Robert Vaughn, Don Gordon, Robert Mirish, Norman Jewison and Lawrence Kasdan all recalling poignant moments from his 30 films. He died at 50. The audio tapes of his final thoughts will bring tears to any man or woman who really "gets" the direction he was trying to move into before he lost his life to Mesothelioma. It is worth it. And your hubby will love the car chase and 10 minute "Making of Bullitt". I have both boxed sets of DVD's since I'm a fan of his acting. There will never be anyone who can hold a candle to Steve. lol!

Glenn: The marketing of the magicians here with POP (Point of Sale) 4 color literature, billboards and so forth has reminded me so much of your work and that of Andy Martello. You are both at least equal to the talent here.

Believe it or not, I missed the Steve McQueen age as he was popular before my time. His leading man popularity though reminds me of say Michael Jackson. Rarely do you see Steve McQueen classics on tv a lot. Rarely do you hear Jackson tunes on the radio anymore. It's almnost as if it never happened.:(

Hello Michael,

I had to pick and choose among your blogs to figure out how to thank you for the many times you've visited me and left a comment.

My husband is a HUGE Steve McQueen fan. Huge.

Thank you for your kind remarks about my nominations at Share The Love. This is all a little surprising to me but it's awfully nice to know people like you congratulate me. I thank you again for your visits.

Oh, Janet: I am sitting here laughing in stitches with a mental picture of a howling Steve McQueen with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other buckled over at the mere mention of Michael Jackson! lol!!

Yeah, you are right. This was a very long time ago and I myself barely caught McQueen, but his movies are a case study of a very intense and committed actor who channelled the pain and tragedy in his life onto the big screen. And he was riveting. I hope that you will enjoy one, if not all of the presentations. They are well worth it! lol, Janet! :-)

Barb! Your husband has great tastes!! Tell him, we have a great lineup this year. I am thrilled to see that you stopped by! And what an honor that award was. Kudo's kiddo!!!!!!

Hi Michael--Steve McQueen rocked. But I must admit that Burt Lancaster still takes my breath away, particularly in "The Swimmer."

Luvya--e.

Erin: Did you know that he was offered the part in "The Verdict"? Of course, it's hard to imagine anyone now but Paul Newman in that role; Burt turned it down. One of my broadcasting friends did an impersonation of Lancaster doing the closing argument scene and I nearly fell off my chair laughing. lol! I liked BL in "Birdman of Alcatraz".
