JOHN LENNON TOUR BUS!
>_____
For some time, I've been meaning to BLOG about The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus because it is such a positive outreach program to give kids a chance to express themselves through video and musical productions. The bus is actually a rolling studio filled wall-to-wall with the most modern music and video equipment. The interior is divided into two separate recording environments. The front studio allows one to create multi-media projects. Audio and video equipment is available to assist in the recording and editing of original material! In the back of the bus, a studio is set-up for bands and remote recording of concerts and special events. The studio features guitars, basses, keyboards, and drums. Also on-board is a P.A. system enabling performances on the side of the Bus. I first discovered The John Lennon Tour Bus project when a brochure fell out of a guitar magazine I subscribe to, and I set it aside (with all the best intentions of mentioning it here). Constructive feedback to the kids who participate in the year-long Songwritiing Contest comes from Al Jarreau, Bob Weir (of The Grateful Dead), Pat Metheny, Joan Osborne, The Bacon Brothers and many more artists! The bus tours all over the United States, and one day I'd love to see it myself! This is such a great initiative that comes along at a time when State lawmakers are cutting back on staffing and hours at local libraries (which I'll never understand). The bus project is a non-profit state of the art recording and multi-media studio not to be missed. Here's where you can learn more: http://www.jlsc.com/. This site will tell you how to qualify and enter The John Lennon Songwriting Contest to win the Maxell Song of the Year and $20,000. The brochure seemed to be "glaring" at me last night. So, I finally got around to blogging about it. What an inspiring program! Have a Great Wednesday!

Wow it does sound wonderful! Thanks for sharing Michael.
I got peed off because our local United Way dropped the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program. WHO thinks up these cuts? They sure aren't thinking about the KIDS that's for sure!
Patti-Cake: No, you are right. They don't. When I was in high school, kids were allowed to "borrow a room" and set up their equipment to rehease as a "garage band" for an upcoming Talent Show. Libraries, to me are one of the few "Recreational" places kids have left.
What a cool idea and a cool post Michael.
Thanks very much for the information and inspirations.

Wow! that's really cool! I'd never heard of it before! It's amazing what people can come up with isn't it?
Glenn: Isn't this just an amazing tool to encourage rather than discourage people with something Fresh and Innovative? I'm glad you agree!
Suzanne: Yoko Ono had a lot to dowith it and I'm sure she is right that John would have loved it! Absolutely!!
That's funny. I posted on Wednesday about an educational bus also, Michael. The one I posted about was a science bus tho, not a music one.
Utenzi: Very cool--both inspire imagination!!!
