SUPPORTING MOTHERS OF LOST SOLDIERS!

Rick Springfield is helping American Gold Star Mothers

__
As I have mentioned in many Blogs, Rick Springfield is the real-deal and a nice person. Having met him, I've observed his dedication to worthy causes, most recently helping our dear friend, Sahara Aldridge and her parents Amy & Shannon. After reading Sahara's Blog, her Mother Amy reminded me of something I meant to post earlier. Rick has just released the above CD and is donating ALL PROCEEDS from the song, "Christmas With You" to support the US Military Organization AMERICAN GOLD STAR MOTHERS who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country. At a time when Faith, Hope and Love means so much to each of us, keep this CD in mind as a nice present for the approaching festive Holidays. In a post last year, before I relocated to Arizona, I shared with all of you that a neighbor--literally down the street from my home in the Mid-West--gave birth to an adorable baby son. Her husband was serving in Iraq. He was able to talk with his wife on a cell phone and even see his son's photos over the phone. Two weeks later, he and 13 fellow soldiers were killed when their Humvee drove over an improvised explosive device buried in a roadway. The explosion blew the vehicle 26 feet into the air. All 14 men were killed. We neighbors were numb! We set up over 1,000 American Flags at the curb to line the street to Honor the fallen soldier's family. Later, they placed a sweet message in our mailboxes thanking us all for attempting to bring Love and Mercy to them in their time of grief and shock. This young Mother is now among those whom Rick is reaching out to. Let's help Rick on this very worthy mission. I picked up a copy of this CD while I was at PJ's record store in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and enjoyed rapping with the owner. My friend Ally has organized a grass roots campaign called "The Christmas With You Charity Campaign--A Collaborative Effort of Love, Honor and Gratitude" at her Blog address: http://www.jasonthompson.org/XMAS%202007.html. I personally urge you to acquire a personal copy of this wonderful CD from a super musical artist and a good guy with a heart! NOTE: Ally's site will enable you to watch Rick's video of this song. Michael, thanks for the kind mention of our grassroots campaign. We truly hope--and believe--it can and will make a huge difference for such a worthy organization (and this isn't political in any way, shape, or form).

Christmas With YOu is a wonderful collection of traditional holiday songs, and Rick has done a terrific job on it. I love it!! He and Josh Groban's Noel are in my play list this year at holiday time. Rick maybe a bit more since this is for such a worthy cause.

Happy holidays to all!

Ally

Very cool when someone of notoriety uses their name with associations such as this.

Ally: You have such a big heart and I can assure you that the best bloggers in the universe will consider this opportunity to help make Christmas a little brighter for Mothers. I often think, 'Where would we be without our Mothers in this world?' Before I left Cincinnati, I saw a large banner welcoming home a soldier. I took a double-take. They had that same banner up the year earlier. He must have been re-deployed and was among the lucky guys who returned home. YOU ROCK, MY FRIEND. I hope my small BLOG PAGE helps your noble efforts! :)

Glenn: You are one of the unsung Heroes of Blogging. I am hooked on your series about your work as a Full Time Magician bringing Hope and High Spirits to your audiences. Keep Blogging. GLENN IS A FANTASTIC PERSON I'VE HAD THE HONOR OF INTERVIEWING. VISITING HIS WEBSITE IS A GREAT TIME-OUT ANYTIME OF THE DAY!

jean-luc-picard: As Don Gordon (Co-Star and close friend of the late Steve McQueen) said, "When you're a star, you have to be careful because people can take advantage of you". I must say, whether you go see Rick Springfield live in concert or have a chance to meet him, he is real and available to his fans and that is very rare! He's a good guy and he is one of my Heroes!

Katie: You are so right, because it'sall about balance and Rick is not insulated and isolated from what all of us encounter each day. He is among the few who embraces a word many run from: "Involved". :)

p m prescott: YES! A very down to earth guy whose concerts are unforgettable!

Seamus: It requires putting aside the pressures of people competing for Rick's attention, but he is obviously focused on what matters.

It's always good to hear of someone doing what they can to make their corner of the world, no matter how large or small, a better place. Us "regular" people need to remember we all can do something.

Jessica: We each have tremendous power that has been harnessed. Often, we only need a "direction with affection". Here is such an opportunity. :)

my jarhead hit us shores this past weekend from iraq.

i'm one of the lucky ones.

my heart goes out to every family who has lost a child to this senseless war... and a thank you goes to rick springfield for remembering that the warrior is to be honoured in this time in our nation.

you don't have to agree with the war, i don't...but, you honour those who do their duty...

Quin: We see the faces of young boys, but none of us are told of the tragedies unfolding within families. I was a small kid when my brother returned from Vietnam. I'll never forget my Mother running to the front of the house when she heard the car door shut outside! My brother arrived back home safely. Rick's initiatives are so positive!
