HOPE YOUR NEW YEAR WAS NICE!

It sure is different here in Phoenix. Our temps are in the high 40's to low 50's by day and high 30's by night. Quite tame. But the desert is gorgeous and the mountains are very soothing. Which reminds me...

My friend ALLY has eclipsed $4,600 on her site "ALLY That Glitters" for the American Gold Star Mothers. This was a phenomenal feat for such a late time of year. I'm off to practice my guitar and get ready for our first "Friday Movie Suggestion Night" post on Thursday (and to catch up with you)!

Hi, Michael! There's a lot of difference between that snow pic and the Phoenix pic.

I love snow but have a hunch that might have a lot to do with the fact that Arkansas generally doesn't get much snow. The rarity makes it dear to me. But - if we got as much as Buffalo, NY or other Northern areas I might not love snow quite so much. ;o)

Hope your first day of 2008 was a good one.

Love and hugs,

Diane

I read the Gold Star Mothers information with interest. I have never come across anything like that here in the UK, even after years of working side by side with the services.

Well done to Ally on raising so much money for the 'Moms'.

No snow here in the UK, just grey and rain. But Phoenix looks nice - probably too hot for me though! :-)

We are having a similar difference in climates this winter, leaving behind the rain and enjoying the fairly constant sunshine!

Glad you are enjoying your new surrounds Michael!

Hi Micheal - I found you from craziequeen's place.

Isn't it delicious that the snow pic is from Beverly Hills (Michigan) LOL and Phoenix looks amazing.

Here in my town all the snow clearers work in the middle of the night! They do the commercial stuff first and then those of us who can afford them - which means late, late at night. If she lived here Miss Pink Slippers Curler Head wouldn't last a night.

We are preparing for the snow here too Michael. I'm hoping to light a coal fire soon.

Diane: I greeted it like your photo: with a smile! :D))

Andy Martello! This is your year
in Vegas. Happy New Year!!!

CQ: Ally IS amazing. She has the touch and the heart to raise this amount of money at a raditionally very hard time of the year! Glad you are up on The Gold Star Mothers. A great organization. I've spent more than half my life in the Southwest so out here in the West shouldn't be bad. I love it.

Seamus: Yeah, that's cool. This environment is very invigorating!

Maria: It's a New Year and I know you will be very Happy with tons of friends and laughter. Will stop by!:)

Barngoddess: As Al Pacino said to Charlie in "Scent of A Woman": "Well, Charlie there's one in every family". HA! :D))

HI Dianne! Welcome!! I have a feeling my old neighbor wouldn't be Miss Congeniality to anyone wherever she lives.

I did call my Mother and told her to use her leaf blower to push the snow off her driveway and sidewalk instead of shoveling. She said she'd try it and get back to me on the results! :) Thanks for the visit. I'll have to visit your site too!!

Ellee: I'll take that coal fire over what I smelled this morning: glue fumes in the entire apartment. Turns out the water main broke again and the are using glue to fix it. I aired out the place before I passed out, had my coffee and left!:)

Patti: Thanks for the Link. I'll make sure I have you linked too!

Oh I love that you respond to your comments! So many folks don't do that. I always respond to mine but I'm so new to blogging that I was starting to feel like that was a no-no. Peer pressure at 50 - how silly :)

I've linked you too. and Siren says thanks - he loves being noticed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Michael, and all who visit here. LOL at your driveway story. We get snow, but it isn't near as bad as some places. And if it stays in the mountains (those are hills there in Arizona, well, except for Flagstaff), then even better.

I love sending Christmas there, and coming back here and working Sundance Film Festival. Best of all worlds---we shall see soon!!

Have a great day, and stay warm! Ha...

Ally

P.s. Yes we did get over $4,600 and I expect that total to raise more by this weekend as I know of some checks really in the mail. So there will be an update as they roll in. Thanks for all the written support here and on my JT site!!! :)

Dianne: Yeah, I'm old fashioned in that regard. I try very hard to respond to people who are kind enough to de-lurk and have fun! "Siren" is such a great name! :)

Ally: But you DO get enough snow to be "Snowbunny Ally", right? I'm still trying to think back to how I arrived at that nick-name.

You were letting us use your laptop, and we were talking about everyone in our cool group of friends and I said something like "That's 'Snowbunny Ally'. Doesn't she look like a Snowbunny'?" And of course everyone chimed in. So, that was that!

What an amazing fundraising feat Ally!! Especially considering that you launched it when people had so much competing for their attention!!! I will stay tuned. What a wonderful heart you have for such a worthy cause!!!!:) I encourage everyone to stop by if you haven't already. Quick. HURRY!!!

Yes it is nice to see the snow in the mountains, but not have to put up with that much on your streets or driveway. Enjoy it while you can, then comes the heat.

After having visited Idaho in the snow last week, I know that I couldn't live in that type of weather...ever. We're colder than you, but at least it rarely snows in the city.

Happy New Year to you too, Michael! I'll take your 50 degree days anytime over the weather here lately in Indy.

LOL Michael, yes I can be a Snowbunny Ally as we are in the Rockies and do get the snow! And remember, at Cape, it was cold and we were all in front of that lodge setting with the fireplace. So I like my new Rick name...:) Oops, nick name!!!

Today is gonna be 50 here! Calm before the storm as I am gonna be home and hibernating tomorrow all day, I have a feeling.

Have a great weekend Michael and everyone! We are now up to $4,730 as the checks en route are arriving for the Gold Star Mothers campaign!

Ally
