12 PEOPLE I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO VISIT!
Recently, I blogged about how fun it would be to mention a dozen random personalities of the present day I would enjoy interviewing, or what I prefer to call "visiting". Today, I present personalities who are sadly, no longer with us. This is a mere sample of 12 people whom I would love to sit down and visit with today...were it possible.

That's a very intimidating group of people you'd like to interview, and from a range of disciplines.
I'd like to interview somebody like Rosa Parks, the woman who refused to give up her seat on a bus in Alabama in the 1950's, which led to a Supreme Court ruling banning segregation on public transportation.
One person can make a difference.
Good post Michael!, as always:)
Cary Grant! ohh my...so great actor!!...I loved Monkey Business with Marilyn:)
DeLorean and McQueen would certainly be at the top of my list!
good list! Shakespeare and Einstein are my top 2.
Natalie Wood is beautiful! she was indeed a stunning lady.
great list Michael. Natalie was amazing - beautiful and complex. Lucy made it sexy for women to be funny and powerful. And Sammy - I adored Sammy.
which reminds me - I'd love to chat with Dean Martin.
Seraphine: Of course, it's hard to include everyone. But I'll bet you would have a nice list of interesting people too!
Maria: Or North by Northwest!:)
Seamus: Interestingly, a young fan of DeLorean tracked him down for an interview in his New Jersey home around 2002. After some phone conversation Delorean invited him over and showed up at the door to greet him. His biography is riveting, having risen from poverty to the top designer at Packard and then GM with the Pontiac GTO. At the time of his death, he was working on a custom watch and before that, he wanted to produce a car that with a composite body that would sell under $19K and would accelerate from 0-60 in 5 seconds. He drove a yellow Acura NSX. Sadly, he was forced to file Chapter 7 before his death, thanks to certain "ghosts" from the past.
Barngoddess: I visited Natalie's grave in L.A. I was heartbroken when she died. I cannot even imagine anyone else playing "Maria" in "West Side Story". Nominated for an Academy Award playing opposite Steve McQueen in "Love with The Proper Stranger". I like your choices too!:)
Dianne: An elderly friend of mine knew Dean Martin. He never recovered from the loss of his son.
I thought I posted on this yesterday... Hmmmm I am so confused! You do have a great list Michael.
Okay I need to pay more attention here. I did someething similar on Tuesday. Okay 12 people no longer with us. This just might be easier for me believe it or not.
1- Abraham Lincoln - President
2- Caroll O'Connor- Actor
3- John Candy- Comedian
4- Rose Kennedy - Matriarch
5- Tenessee Williams- Playwright
6- Gen. William T. Sherman
7- Marilyn Monroe - Acress
8- Conrad Aiken - Poet
9- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
10- JFK Junior
11- Huey Long (former LA gov)
12- Truman Capote (author)
As beautiful as Elizabeth Taylor was in the 50's & 60's I always thought Natalie Wood was more beautiful and three times the actress. A really sad day when she passed away.
A good range of people over all.
Patti: THAT is a great list too! :)
p m: Natalie is interred next to Steve McQueen's daughter, Terry. Both women were shockingly young; Terry was 30 and Natalie 38. Very sad, indeed.
I was a huge fan of Dudley Moore's piano playing. He was wonderful!
So nice to see John DeLorean on your list! I am sad to say I did not meet him as I only began attending the bi-annual DeLorean events after he passed away.
Hi Michael,
I love your list, especially Lucy and Desi. And Natalie Wood-I loved her. Basically, I'd like to tag along on your visits!
I would include Eleanor Roosevelt too.
Interesting list... I got an error message on my first try so hopefully this won't duplicate. Not sure I remember the whole list from my first try but here goes.
1. Abraham Lincoln
2. Albert Schweitzer
3. Jane Austin
4. P.G Wodehouse
5. Martin Luther King
6. Mark Twain
7. John Steinbeck
8. Kurt Vonnegut
9. W.B. Yeats
10. Clark Gable (sigh)
11. Kathryn Hepburn
12. Emily Dickinson
fleur de lisa: There is an out of print vinyl record from the early 80's of Dudley Moore and Cleo Laine (whom he once dated among many). I'm sorry I ever misplaced it. They talked about making that LP for 25 years and they did so shortly after "10". He is sadly missed. I saw some old re-run of his show with Peter Cook and it was fun to see someone other than me who cracked up out of character at jokes! Have a good weekend, Lisa!
Martini: You'll love his autobiography "DeLorean". He was brilliant and a bit wild when he was younger. But as an auto designer who fixed Packards Automatic Transmission woes and went on to Pontiac he was a genius! I think, like Steve McQueen, he realized his mistakes. But he was innocent and proved it. Hell of a man!
Snoopmurph: You both look fun in that great photo, so come along! :D Yes, if Lucy and Desi were alive today, with what we know about counseling, they would have made it as a couple. No doubt.
Raven: Emily Dickinson is a very interesting choice if she would sit for an interview or visit. GREAT LIST! I've been having error messages too for some odd reason! Have a nice weekend!:)
I think I picked Emily Dickinson because she was an agoraphobic like I am. I'd sit for an interview. I suspect she would have loved the company. Glad I'm not the only one getting error messages.
Raven: Yes, blogger can be an occasional pain. However, Haloscan has been worse for many of my Blog friends. So nice to hear from you and I hope you have a fun weekend!:)
All of those would have been great to have had the privilege to speak with! And I always thought Natalie Wood was soooo beautiful :)
Carolyn: While in L.A. I visited her resting place and needless to say, her remarkable achievements, sass and humor combined with her breath taking beauty saddened me greatly. I could see all those wonderful roles she had earned in my mind and yes, the world is bereft without Natalie.
