HAVE A LOOK AND A LISTEN!
To say I find this lady intriguing would be an understatement. Truth be told, as I blogged to you all last year, after attending a Lucinda Williams concert at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles (it was recorded for a "Live" CD). Shelby Lynne came bouncing out on stage unannounced and frankly, I loved her sass and her voice. In a world where pop divas appear on the musical landscape as often as I shower and shave (thanks to the "short cut" that the moronic "American Idol" television show pushes shamelessly), and the virtually indistinguishable nature of each "star" who winds up getting signed to a recording contract, I do know one thing. Shelby Lynne plays by her own rules and she refuses to answer to fashion. She records what she wants and in a gutsy move, this 39 year old songbird has a phrasing that blows away any 20-something. And while I'd love to hang out with her, I'll have to settle for this CD, that just arrived in my mailbox. Have a look and a listen at this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuaHN1p8F9E

Yep i'm not a fan of the "cookie cutter" genre either. Shelby is beautiful
Wonderful voice!!!
Great post Michael,
Glenn Bishop
Morning, Patti! And best of all, she doesn't live that far away! :D (Hey, I can dream, right?)
Seamus: Her voice IS beautiful. I own her CD's and each one is a gem!
Glenn: Thanks! I'll be over!!
I really like her too Michael. I like that she uses tape to record instead of digital all the time. When I read how she prefers the older way of recording, I thought, now there's a gifted singer after my own heart. I myself have used a lot of reel tape in my day and the busses, sliders & knob hands-on approach are so much cooler than pointing a mouse where recording goes. I do admit the digital cuts out all the hiss, but what's a little hiss among friends, lol!
I wanted to, but I'll have to wait until I get home. The server here has blocked out these sites.
Carolyn: I agree wit you 100%. There's a sensitivity within an artist who records this way. Shelby is one of the most interesting artists around. Barry Manilow must be credited with giving her good advice to do this CD.
p m: You're better off waiting until you get home. The workplace today is crazy. Enjoy the Music Video--one of the BEST I've ever seen!
I'll have to check her music out. You always have great suggestions-I feel my horizons expanding with each visit!
Snoopmurph! Nice to see you. Thanks for the compliment and I'll drop by to see what you are up to!
It is a good video, and she has a lovely voice.
p m: She makes me forget anything bad! :)
It's so sad that so many real talents languish on the side-lines while plastic replicas make it big. Nice to see someone break out of the pack and have her voice heard.
Just have to say that the verification letters strike me as ver funny this morning. They are tvxnpr... of course if the x were a "v" it would be even funnier.
Raven: Too funny!
I can't speak for Shelby of anyone else, but if they are at peace with their craft at the end of the day, that's what counts. It all comes down to every individual;s objectives. I know she is on tour and will be in Ireland as I understand it soon enough. I'd love to catch her in concert.
My heart says that it would like to feel love again...
I think this is one of the songs that makes you feel especial at heart, hope you understand what I mean, right??
I really enjoy with that song Michael!, thanks so much:)
Love,
Maria
Maria: It is a terrific CD and that Video is the best music video I have personally seen! :)
