DUDLEY MOORE & CLEO LAINE CD DISCOVERY!
This CD is a gem. The vinyl's are long gone, and to be honest I have looked for this recording for years, as it was once part of my collection. The basic story is that for over 20 years, Dudley and Cleo talked about recording together after the May Ball in England many moons ago. Just one year after the movie "10" was released, they finally connected with bass player Ray Brown, and a drummer whose name escapes me (yes I know, one is not supposed to admit these things in a BLOG, but what do you want me to do, lie?). Anyway, Moore always loved jazz and while his chops as an accompanist here is crisp and terrific, it is clear by Track 6 that this was a true labor of love for two souls who once dated, and then went on to marry others while remaining close friends. Cleo Laine is simply one of my favorite jazz singers. And I once came close to attending a concert of hers years ago. Something came up (God only knows what) and I always said "Well, I'll catch her next time". A dangerous practice if used too often in life. I much prefer a "Carpe Diem" approach now. As a stylist, Cleo is incomparable on "I'll Be Around" and "I Can't Give You Anything But Love". In fact, she is a jazz great in an always tough genre to make a living in. All in all, this is good fun, and great music making from two close friends who love the music as much as they adored each other. If you can snag a CD, enjoy it! As a superb pianist with sensibilities that were borne of genius, Dudley's performance is as delightful here as he was in "10" (even with all the drama his character had going on). I mean, what other guy could pull off recording "Live from an Airplane Hangar" ? A delight. A Joy! Ciao for now... Track Listings

Where do these gems come from?
I am told that I have "a mind like a steel trap"! :D) BTW Captain: This would be good to play over the Intergalactic Sound System on board the USS Enterprise because it will create harmony and give you and Bev a break!
What a great pairing this must have been as Dudley was a wonderful pianist and Cleo had a fantastic voice!
Michele kind of sent me...You were tricked by the 50 comments per page thing at Michele's and visited the person at the bottom of the first page rather than the last commneter! Never mind, it bought me here :)
Hey, Bob-Kat! Thanks for the visit! There are no accidents I suppose! :D See ya over at your place!
I have to admit this isn't my type of listenin BUT I will download one of them and have a listen.
I know Dudley Moore was a well rounded entertainer so I won't be suprised of his performance.
Walker: He is dearly missed!
This is on my list of CDs to get when I actually have the money to do so!
