The beautiful Patti Scialfa--a great solo artist herself!
I may have the Takamine, but not the girl...yet!

"The Boss"
___
For the first time in almost 30 years, there was a "happening" for Bruce Springsteen fans at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey. A benefit to raise $3 million to renovate the theatre, (which was built in 1926) cost most fans upwards of $1,000 per ticket. But according to Springsteen's wife and band mate Patti Scialfa, Bruce and The E. Street Band played cut-for-cut the albums "Darkness on The Edge of Town" (I personally followed that tour like a high octane groupie through two cities and had a blast!) and "Born To Run". Drummer Max Weinberg and the horn section from Conan O'brien's late night television show blasted through songs I personally love: "Candy's Room", "Badlands", "Backstreets" and "Somewhere in the Night". Patti Scialfa:"We play most of these songs on a pretty regular basis in our set. But when you hear them in order, it brings you back to the first time you heard them as a listener. Everything felt new again".

I remember listening to Born in the USA over and over again. My favorite song of his, of course, was/is "Dancing in the Dark". I'd like to see him in concert, but it's not in the cards right now.

Playing cut-for-cut is unusual.

My sister-in-law and brother-in-law just got to see him out in CA and loved it. I have never gotten the chance to see him, but I am still holding out hope!

i missed all of his concerts when he played denver in the '80's. he happened to come though as i was pregnant with each of my kids...

oh, but, i dreamed i'd show up, and he'd whisk, um, pull...errr, haul my waddling butt onstage to dance.

*sigh*

Notta Wallflower: It will be soon. I'm optimistic for you!

jean-luc-picard: Yes it is! A cool idea though!!

Snoopmurph: He still plays almost 3 hours with an intermission! WILD! :)

Quin: Keep that thought, and I hope he comes back to town soon for you!

Bruce always does stuff for his home state. The Count Basie is a lovely theater, I've been there a few times. It was getting so rundown that they had to extend meshing across the celiling - tiles were falling out. It will be so beautiful when it's done.

and Red Bank is a great town!! It's about 15 minutes south of me and a wonderful place to hang out.

dianne: From everything I've read about Bruce he has really paid his dues as a musician--no "American Idol" instant gratification here!It was as Jon Bon Jovi once said, "from the basement to the stage and most of that time was in the basement". lol! I will never forget the $10,000 check Bruce wrote to a food bank. A good guy!

Greeneyes: It will be busy and a short week here on the Blog! YOU have a Great week too, my friend ;)!

Walker: When "Born To Run" came out I was a mere lad in school listening to it in my parents basement. I'll never forget Roy's keyboard flourishes. I feel like this. As long as the music holds up, who cares when it was made, right? THE BOSS! BTW: I understand he doesn't like that term so..."BRUUUUUCE!!!" :D)

He was the main poster on my wall in college! I love him and Patti together (and NO not just because I can daydream that I'M the Patti hehe... they just FIT)

Patti: I SO agree. I am looking for Miss Right to fit as well. As a late friend of mine said to me years ago (he died of injuries from an auto accident). "Michael, I don't think I ask too much in women. What? A hot bod? A Millionairess?" :D)
