ON THE MEANING OF LIFE 1,000 BLOGS LATER!

Good Morning!
__
Brief Blog here, which is truthfully what most of us prefer over long-winded polemics. This Blogsite is for me simply a labor of love. I have (foolishly perhaps) eliminated roughly 200 previous posts from my history roster for a number of artistic considerations; I endeavor to accept the advice of a dear friend of mine given to me 2 summers ago about keeping my blog posts brief. And I Cherish her input! So, on this epic occasion of posting my 1,000th Blog, I submit the following (and I'll be as brief as I possibly can!).
__
Last week, a Lebanese man e-mailed me (from Lebanon) and remarked that I was a "Legend". Further, he implored upon me to send him an autographed photo. My Mother was still visiting me from the Mid-West and after I read the e-mail aloud to her during breakfast we had a good hearted laugh at the thought of me as a "Legend" (and with no disrespect to the sender, assuming he was genuine). Truly, I mean how would you feel? Later it dawned on me that I still have a Christmas card taped to my door from CNN that was mistakenly addressed to a frequent Guest on "Larry King Live", Father Michael Manning. Then, there's the possibility the man from Lebanon might have believed I was related to football great Peyton Manning. Nope. Anyway, I thanked the sender and responded that I would mail off a signed photo, then managed to lose his e-mail address in Lebanon. I don't know what embarrassed me more. Losing his address or receiving his inaccurate compliment! In either event, re-send your e-mail and address my friend, and I'll have a signed photo off to you. But it has no resale value. Really! :D)

When anyone looks me up at www.michaelmanning.tv and visits my Bio Page, Photo Pages, my Videotaped Interview, "Friday Movie Suggestion Night", "The Annual Steve McQueen Film Festival", my occasional feature "THE INTERVIEW", and everything that happens around here in between, I have but one hope. And that is to share my passion for Living, Loving, and Learning. And so dear friends, on the occasion of my 1,000th Blog Post I have selected a You Tube about Eva Cassidy that sums up what matters most. In the spirit of Life: I hope you enjoy watching it and here's a Toast to the next 1,000 Blogs!

God Bless, and Have a Great Week!

A thousand posts? Really?!? You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din! I've only got 391 posts (I had to look!) and I've been blogging for 2½ years.

Congratulations on reaching such a milestone in your blogging, Michael. Here's to a thousand more. :o)

Jim McKay will be missed. He was a trail breaker and a good journalist.

Hope your new week is a good one.

Love and hugs,

Diane

Diane: There are so many of us in "the biz", but only a handful stand out. For me: Christopher Glenn was radio; Fred Rogers was PBS children's television; Walter Cronkite was hard news; Mike Wallace was investigative journalism, and Jim McKay was sports. When I saw Steven Spielberg's film "Munich", Jim's original reporting footage of the horrible 1972 Olympic terrorist tragedy was included. Suddenly, all of my high school History class lessons came back to me and I really understood what had happened with unmistakable clarity. Jim was class, integrity and personality personified. God Bless Jim and his family. He will be missed forever.

Michael, this post was so inspiring for me! I think Eva died in 2001? Her voice was so beautiful. But as a singer, I can relate to her shyness and prefering others to talk for her and just let her sing.

Ok this might spur me to come back out of my shell and post a more personal post of my own now, lol! Thanks much for this and congrats on your blogging milestone :)

Carolyn: lol! I was hoping you would someday mention your background as a musician and singer! To answer your question, Eva was born February 2, 1963 and passed on November 2, 1996. By 2001 we started to hear about who she was here in the United States, thanks to our good friends in the U.K. :)

Oh, thanks for the info on her correct death year. I was confusing the year with the release of her Time after Time album in 2000 :)

Carolyn: Eva worked at a landscaping store by day and gigged by night. I have all her CD's but "Live at Blues Alley" and think I'll take one along this morning as I drive along in the car! I first heard her voice in a bookstore near the music department. When she took up Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain", I loved her use of minor chords and jumped up from my comfy char to wander in and ask "WHO IS THIS?" That was 2003. Yeah, she became famous later. lol!!!

I love Kat but sadly I have a hell of a time getting to her blog when she went to the other site.
When she was on blogger I was a regular.
She is a riot herself.

Walker: Tell me about it! I met she and hubby "Good Man Roger" for coffee in-person twice! All the best, my friend!
