LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR...
Wow! You know it's a nasty music industry when The Rolling Stones sever ties with EMI Group's recording label after 20 years and move their entire catalogue over to Vivendi's Universal Group. "Universal are forward-thinking, creative, and hands-on music people," the band said in a statement. "We really look forward to working with them." Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
My neighbors were pretty good about Sunday. You'd think after moving to Phoenix last December that I'd be one-hundred-percent caught up on unpacking and projects. Well, yes and no. I finished all but two projects that sat in the "Que" (a.k.a. atop my living room coffee table), and the last order of business here is to select one of three music teachers I've spoken with. Each has a different approach to teaching. I'll decide this week. Thus, my earlier post about how all of us balance blogging with our schedules. I have strength training twice a week after work and weekends melt like the Stone's song "Blinded By Rainbows", only not quite that dramatic. It was fun to hook everything my gear, though. The neighbors (who I think were out) otherwise got a mid afternoon shock of The Who's "I Can't Explain", (they must have been out, right?). Bud Buckley's suggestion to replace my medium gauge acoustic guitar strings with light gauge turned out to be "just what the doctor ordered". All of this came about after my practice amp decided to become deader than a doorknob on me. My first job at age 14 was in a television repair shop in Western Cincinnati, so with a V-U Meter, I know what to check out (yes, unplugged). For the record, the only thing I haven't unpacked are my leaded window frames. But then, I'm hoping this is my last apartment too. Hope things are groovy at your apartment or home._
Speaking of groovy digs, Carolyn at The Ginger Quill is not only a Singer/Musician, she has some really nice photos of her home remodeling. Stop over and say hello! By the way, I am half way through my Blogroll on catch-up visits. See you soon! My Complete Website is: www.michaelmanning.tv

I would love it if you were my TV repair man too. How wonderful to go from that job to star TV presenter!
Ellee: lol! Many fun memories and funny mishaps. At least on occasion was a shocking experience! :D)!
Those "to do" lists always manage to fall by the wayside when we're doing other stuff, don't they?
I've been looking at a mountain of stuff that needs to be cleaned up in the basement, and all I want to do is move it to the bottom of the list!
Atilla the Mom: I would make an "attack plan" with some good friends using free coffee as a Saturday morning caveat. You would serve as the Project Coordinator and create a "Donate", "Keep" and "Trash" category! Within a few hours you'll have anew Blog subject: "Moving a Mountain Outta My Basement". Ta-Da!
lol! And have a great day!!!
the music industry is crazy.
somebody like the rolling stones
you let them do what they want
basically.
you don't stand in their way.
in fact, not standing in one's way
is generally good business sense
anywhere. basically.
I am not suprised at what ever the Stones do given their history of being out there while doing anything.
Did I tell you I had them in my back yard two years ago shooting part of their music video streets of fire?
I was drunk BTW which isn't much of a surprise given the fact it was a concert date lol
I know someone who is still unpacking after moving 5 years aao so you have plenty of time going by her standards.
Madison is grumbling in the other room because I won't let her go outside. Too darn hot!
i hope things work out for the Rolling Stones. sometimes change is good.
i plan on moving at the end of this year or beginning of next year, so i'm going to start packing now to be ahead of the game. hopefully, it won't take long to unpack.
Seraphine: I wish more managers would agree with you as I do. Marty Shugrue was the finest business leader I ever met at Pan Am and Eastern Airlines. He told me, "I have always said that the role of a really good manager is to go out and put your hands on the best possible people you can--irregardless of race, gender, all that stuff--I don't care! And what you do is assign them to a task, hold them responsible for it, give them the tools to get it done and then get the hell out of their way". Your note reminded me of my late friend's great approach! lol, Seraphine! :)
Walker: That must have been amazing! I have almost all of their CD's. Each one is defiant--which is what I love about Keith and Ronny's guitar work. "She Was Hot" was a favorite of mine in the film, "Shine A Light"! You were a little tipsy, eh? WALKER!
Patti: Doesn't sound like a good time to do pigtails! You still have me laughing over that Blog Post after all this time!!! :D) It IS way too hot. Monogram Queen Knows Best!!!
heiresschild: Thanks for writing! For all of their wild antics over the decades, the guys really have good management--which wasn't always the case in the 1960's when they were royally ripped off. They are so unique from the crowded music scene because after 46 straight years together, they can ignore trends. And THAT I love!!! :)
