SUNDAY WITH JOHN RITTER!
Yesterday afternoon I decided to phone a friend of mine from college. This movie clip is pretty much how he described his dating life to me over the phone. I was laughing so hard for over an hour --literally in tears-- listening to one crazy "adventure" after another---you can't imagine! So, this film clip pretty much sums up how things are going for him. I hope you can find humor in this. A Disclaimer: It certainly doesn't reflect my life at all!

By the way, I featured "Skin Deep" twice on "Friday Movie Suggestion Night" over the past few years and received very little response. Who knows why? But this much I can tell you. When this movie premiered, my best buddy and I went to the theater during an afternoon Matinee. I always sit in an Aisle seat just like I do on an airplane. But since my buddy is 6 feet 7 inches tall he asked for the Aisle seat. We busted out laughing throughout the entire movie and he was laughing so hard in the theater that he fell out of his chair into the aisle. There were only about 5 people in the theater at the time. Nevertheless, the theater manager showed up with a flashlight and issued us a warning to try and "compose ourselves" or we'd have to leave the theater. Really? I mean, have you ever tried 'composing' yourself at a Blake Edwards comedy? I don't know how many of you have ever seen this movie, but it is John Ritter at his best. May all of your dates be good ones!

Cheers!

I loved John Ritter! I'm also the only one in my family, to my knowledge, that appreciates Blake Edwards, Monty Python, Black Adder and any of that genre.
Happy Weekend, Michael! :o)
Love and hugs,
Diane
I loved the setting fire to the piano scene!
Julianne Phillips is yummy. What was Springsteen thinking all those years ago? This is an overlooked film. Blake Edwards by the time this came out had run his course I think and most people flat out missed it. Maybe that explains it.
That was a neat clip Michael.
Thanks for the link. Can I tell you again how much I really enjoy reading your blog?
Keep up the cool work!
Glenn Bishop
John Ritter never got mentioned much here, although I have seen him.
Diane: A major talent who was certainly no "overnight sensation". He is really missed. Died a young man. I lived in the area in Ohio where his wife was from.
Seamus: That he keeps playing undaunted is a SCREAM :O!!!!!!
dj davy b: I do like Julianne myself. Her exit is funny here too!
Glenn: Hard to believe both Vincent Gardenia and John are gone. Blake did a lot of therapy in his life and I think much of his humor comes from therapy experiences!
jean luc-picard: I've done at least 4 posts on John. But the main thing is that this movie is hilarious. I'd hate to spoil a scene or two by mention. so I wont! :D)
I loved John. His enthusiasm for life was contagious!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend, Michael.
i remember john ritter mostly from three's company and 8 simple rules. he was totally likeable.
he had me "rolling in the aisles" a few times too.
fleur de Lisa" Good camera weather for you, I'm hoping! :)
Searaphine: Last time I saw John he was giving instructions to a talk show host how to take a glass of water and spew it from his mouth all over the place in comedic style---of course! :D
Hello Michael...just stopping by to say hello! Have a great week ahead of you!
He was great in everything he did! I still remember his character in Sling Blade :)
Jess: And to YOU!!!
Carolyn: Carolyn: lol! Oh, the predicaments of this film! :D))
Wow, that's sort of like my love life. I just keep singing as the palace burns.
drats! Never heard of Blake Edwards..maybe if I seen him,I might recognize some of his work.
I absolutely LOVE going to a movie that literally laughs you out of your seat though!
"Skin Deep"? can you get it at Blockbusters? If so,I'll check it out.
Have a great day!!
Sorry it's taken me a month of Sundays to get back at cha'...life has not slowed down at work and at home, since the hurricane scares.
TTYL!!
Huggggggs

inanna: Spomtaneous combustion? ;D
tammi & tammi: You might want to Google Blake Edwards. Try Amazon.com for the movie. I believe it may have been released on DVD. Blockbuster doesn't have it.
the water spew is a tried-and-true comedic convention. but really, john ritter's gift was in the faces he made (his body language)
when he did things like that, and his quick wit.
ahhh john ritter was wonderful
so was vincent gardenia! he lived in my old Brookly neighborhood. loved by everyone!
Ha! The glow-in-the-dark condom scene was priceless!
I have a real difficult time watching movies/shows that feature people who die tragically or way before their time---at least during my generation.
So while I can watch John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Audrey Hepburn et al movies, others are just hard. John Candy, Phil Hartman--to name a few and now Heath Ledger and John Ritter.
I don't know why it is, and I hope I get over it. It just makes me feel really squicky and uncomfortable.
Seraphine: I lived for a time in the neighborshood where Amy, John's grew up in Ohio. Took John a lot of hard work to get noticed, and then to become recognized as being comical. :)
Attila: You're human. You care. :) A lot of people don't. I Honor you!!!
dianne: Vincent Gardenia was cast so perfectly in this movie as the bartender. What a wonderful Actor he was!
P.S. Atilla: The scene yo mentioned is a scream. But if you can remember the scene before all of that where Ritter is in the ground floor Bungalow, and the young girl was upstairs having the fight with her rock star boyfriend who walked out. Then that phone conversation and charging up the stairs to Tchaikovsky laying in the background!!!! :D) That is a killer scene, yes! I think the Theater Manager gave us a warning to cool it on that scene too!
Always been a big fan of John Ritter.... I really loved him in Sling Blade!
Spontaneous combustion! Classic stuff.
Hey, Patti! Thats's one I missed! So don't feel so bad!
Bud: That whole movie was a riot! I've always liked Blake Edwards a lot!!!:D
LOL thats all just LOL
Walker: Isn't Vincent Gardenia a bust as the bartender? He's like this throughout the whole movie!:D)!!!
