AN EVENT FOR KIDS & PARENTS!

Gunner Henry Gillespie
September 4, 2000 - October 23, 2008

Last night, I received a sweet phone call from Gus and Janna Gillespie, parents of the late Gunner Gillespie who was a dear friend of mine. Here's what The Gillespie's are up to.

-

Rival basketball teams came together last year wearing Gunner's Yellow T-Shirt's, getting pictures together, and raising money for the family. Now, The Gillespie's want to raise funds for the organizations that helped them during Gunner's Journey to "Bounce Out Pediatric Brain Tumors!" by producing and selling T-shirts. The Logo on the shirt will be: "Help Gunner’s Magic Train Bounce out Pediatric Brain Tumors!" Gus and Janna are hoping to get businesses and organizations to sponsor the shirts and place their promotional logos on them as well for a future game.

-

An organization, a school, a teacher, or community member is needed to help The Gillespie's take on this challenge as an event partner. Once the T-Shirts are produced, a basketball date to host a game would be placed on the Marshall County High School Basketball schedule in Benton, Kentucky. The project endeavors to pre-sell the shirts and have them ready for patrons to wear for the ball game Tip-Off. Imagine the gym filled with patrons wearing the shirts and making a powerful statement of HOPE for the many children with cancerous brain tumors!

_

GUS & JANNA'S CURRENT BASIC PROJECT NEEDS: A company to donate production of the T-Shirts in a few different sizes, to pre-sell and ship to those placing an order (to include Postage & Handling), shipping envelopes; ideas are welcomed on a silent basketball auction, a raffle, or just "pass the hat". Janna added: "I think it would be a great community project to spread awareness and to make a difference. If any of you have contacts, please let me know! If you would like me to forward flyers, or samples of the shirt just email me at: jgillespie@mchsi.com.

I wish them well with the project-losing a child is the worst thing possible, I hope these events give them hope in the future.

It has been so long since I was here that I also was unaware of your hospitalization. Glad to know you are home again. Get your rest and take care of yourself!
Thats a nice picture of Gunner. I wish Janna and Gus all the best in their endeavor. Taking on a project like this can be a very healing task. What a wonderful way for them to carry on Gunners memory.

I hope their endeavor is a huge success! I find it sad and ironic how this precious little boy left this life, on the very day I was celebrating my birthday. How sobering.

Hope you recover from your surgery quickly, and I expect to hear about your morphine stories. Ha Ha

P M: Basically what Gus and Janna need is a local or regional supplier to "step up to the plate" and offer to take this on. It is good business and shows a huge heart for children! I know as a Teacher yourself, you can relate, my friend! :D)

Heather: I added a powerful member to my Medical Team tonight and we are beginning with a New Plan. I'll be back to 100% sooner than later, I can assure you. I never concede to defeat. I am a big believer in surrounding myself with people whose areas of strength compliment my weaknesses and that has proven to work. Thanks for the LUV! YOU ROCK!

Susan: It starts with a concept and grows into a wonderful miracle of Love! Thanks for your caring and for stopping by! lol! :)

Suzanne: lol! Gunner was a wonderful little boy and I was so blessed to share many happy times with him! I had a special evening planned for what turned out to be the following night (the 24th) and struggled with canceling it. Ultimately, I felt Gunner would have wanted me to follow through and I actually felt his loving spirit say "Are you kidding? Go ahead!" I was happy I did and I'm sure he was watching and smiling.

He taught me a lot and we loved one another. He was a very dear friend and so are his entire family to me.

There was no surgery for me, though, dear. Just a hospital stay. Nice to see you here! I'll see what I have in my bag of funny stories ahead! :D)

Walker: An event like this begins with intention and happens with execution. No one can ever do it all by themselves. That's why I hope Gus and Janna will hear from others who have a desire to help them make this event happen! :)
