In recent blog posts, I have enjoyed sharing information with you about some amazing and dedicated athletes who inspire us all. The men and women of the U.S. Olympic Bobsled (Bobsleigh) Team come from different towns and cities across the United States. Their individual journey's in reaching the Olympics is itself awe-inspiring. Whenever possible, I have made it a point to hear each athlete interviewed on audio or video tape. Their perspectives are unique and fascinating. But yesterday, I also spent several hours studying the construction and design characteristics of the The Whistler Sliding Centre on my computer. Built on the southeast flank of Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler, British Columbia (in Fitzsimmons Creek valley) this track is now considered the fastest in the world. It's been a genuine joy for me to learn more about the incredible Americans who will represent us at the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver!

Let the games begin. I suppose all Olympics for me, will be judged by SLC 2002... I was in Utah the who time, living 250 miles south of SLC. I was actually in SLC, staying downtown, the night they heard the news and there for the party. It was exciting, but bittersweet as the money trail showed less than ethical dealings by the committee. But the Olympics themselves were wonderful and once the games began, the politics moves aside. Thanks for focusing on the athletics!
Sage: Yes, that's correct. The focus for me is entirely on the girls and guys who have sacrificed from sunrise until sunset, often accumulating tremendous financial debt to achieve the dream of a lifetime. Also, I have always loved this particular sport.
Our Team USA is composed of outstanding athletes who are as tenacious as they are gracious. Thanks for visiting, my friend! :)
Go team USA. Safe passage to all teams.
DJ Davy B: Exactly! Safe travels, indeed. Received word earlier that you are back and ready to race in the Mid-West. All Best! :)
Ah yes, the Olympics!
I am always fascinated by your passion for certain subjects, it is so refreshing.;)

I saw on CNN today that a member of the skateboarding team tore his cheek while doing a triple flip jump. However, he recovered and came right back with the triple flip done properly the second time round. Gutsy, eh? Hope that all goes well for everyone going to Vancouver.
Zuzana: It is a great sport that is inspiring with so many fascinating aspects to it. Most of all--our athletes and their journeys! xo,:)
Enid: There is certainly danger when speed and ice is involved. I'm familiar with the half pipe accidents in recent days, but continue to feel very confident in our Team USA Bobsled. :)
The winter olympics always seem to be more exciting that the summer games anymore. I wish all the athletes well.
PM: I agree. Maybe it's the focus that comes from watching the games comfortably from indoors when it is cold outside and therefore less distraction. Very good point! :)
